Canada: Scotiabank Giller Prize

 Linden MacIntyre was named the 2009 winner for his novel The Bishop’s Man, published by Random House Canada. Read here: Canada's Premier Prize for Fiction Names a Winner.

France: Prix Goncort

The winner in 2009 is Marie NDiaye for her novel Trois femmes puissantes (Three Powerful Women), published by Gallimard. Coverage on the New York Times website.

 

Australia: 2009 Prime Minister’s Literary Awards

Fiction Winner: Nam Le for The Boat, Penguin Australia

Non-Fiction joint winners: House of Exile: The Life and Times of Heinrich Mann and Nelly Kroeger-Mann by Evelyn Juers (Giramondo) & Drawing the Global Colour Line by Marilyn Lake and Henry Reynolds (Melbourne University Publishing)

Ireland: IMPAC Dublin Award Longlist

Congratulations to AWRF Trustee Stephanie Johnson whose book Swimmer’s Rope is on the long-list for the IMPAC prize, along with Emily Perkins’ Novel About My Wife, Eleanor Catton’s The Rehearsal, Linda Olsson’s Sonata for Miriam and Kate de Goldi’s The 10pm Question.
