40. POETRY IDOL

We’re delighted to once again bring you Poetry Idol, a rambunctious, sell-out slam in which 10 poets, from fledglings to the more experienced, go head-to-head for the Festival Champion crown.

The inimitable Hot Pink Poet Penny Ashton heads up the judging panel alongside Tony Award-winning Def Jam poet Lemon Andersen, Australian Slam Champion Luka Lesson and local writer actor and comedian Ruth Spencer.

Emulating a lounge environment the Lower NZI theatre will be set out with a combination of chairs and bar leaners - seating arrangements are on a first come basis.
