Get as many friends and family to book so they can come along and vote for you! The tickets are $15 and the event was packed with around 350 people last year so get them to be in early. Kick off is 7pm, Sunday May 15, doors opening at 6pm.
On the night there will be three rounds so you need to have at least three poems prepared of three minutes or less with a limit of no more than 20 secs of singing.
The judges will decide who goes through to each round until the final round when the entire audience will vote for the winner.
It is nearly always better to learn your poetry by heart. I haven’t seen many slam winners read BUT there are always exceptions and it is better to be confident than forgetful, but might I suggest you learn learn learn!
The night runs like so:
Round One – each of 10 finalists do 3 min piece.
Judges comment after each performer a la Idol then at the end of the round make their decision of the 5 performers for round 2.
Round Two – As per round one with 2 finalists being selected.
Round Three – After the round the entire audience votes for their favourite idol.
