As you may know, I love the Festival and its raison d'être, but I have decided for a variety of personal reasons to step down from the role of Artistic Director. I finish up on 24 August, and the planning for 2012 will continue under the experienced eye of well-known writer, Festival Founder and programmer Stephanie Johnson while AWRF recruits a new Artistic Director...

A key position has become available within our small team.  This full-time year-round position manages the funding and communications aspects of the Festival including sponsorship, grants and patronage; manages hospitality functions and communication channels; and coordinates promotional activities.

Auckland Writers and Readers Festival would like to extend its warmest congratulations to 2011 Festival guest Tea Obréht for winning the prestigious UK Orange Prize for her debut novel The Tiger's Wife.
