Russell Haley migrated from England to Australia in 1961. He came to New Zealand in 1966 with his wife, Jean, and their children – Ian and Kathy. Here we all remain – the living and the dead. He has published several notable collections of short stories including Real Illusions which was published by New Directions in New York. Of his three novels, All Done with Mirrors, 1999, remains his favourite book. Haley’s award-winning biographical work on artist Patrick Hanly was published in 1989. Haley’s new prose work – The Company of Lost Voices is in publishers’ limbo. He intends to continue with his mixed-genre life writing with another venture – The Spaces Between.
