Aotearoa: The New Zealand Story is a sumptuously illustrated visual history of Aotearoa New Zealand - from Ma -ori legends through to modern times - crafted by author and illustrator Gavin Bishop (Nga -ti Mahuta (Tainui) and Nga -ti Pukeko, Nga -ti Awa). Since publishing his first picture book, Mrs McGinty and the Bizarre Plant (1981), Bishop has won numerous national and international awards as well as for his illustrations of the work of others, including Margaret Mahy and Joy Cowley. To begin the day, Gavin shares stories and pictures of some of the defining moments in this country’s history.
