Our Poet Laureate: Selina Tusitala Marsh (2018)

Auckland Writers Festival Schools Programme 2018
Proudly supported by Freemasons Foundation

In 2017 Pasifika poet, teacher and performer Selina Tusitala Marsh was announced as this country’s new Poet Laureate, a role which she has described as a “wonderful opportunity to extend the poetic page and stage to this nation’s multi-coloured, multi-hued voices”. Having written and published her first poem at the age of twelve, she has gone on to publish three collections including the 2010 Best First Book Award Winner Fast Talking PI, and the recently launched Tightrope. Selina, who teaches at The University of Auckland and is the force behind the online hub Pasifika Poetry, brings her talent, style and grace to the stage in a celebration of the joy of writing and reading poetry.
