2012 Honoured New Zealand Writer: Maurice Gee

In 2012, the Auckland Writers & Readers Festival announces an important new initiative: the introduction of an Honoured New Zealand Writer.

Conceived to celebrate New Zealand’s most accomplished writers, their body of work and the immense contribution they have made to the literary landscape of New Zealand, we are delighted to welcome as our inaugural honoree the very distinguished Maurice Gee.

Author of some of this country’s finest fiction for adults and children, including In My Father’s Den (1978), Under The Mountain (1979), Plumb (1981), Going West (1985), Crime Story (1992) and Live Bodies (1998), alongside screenplays and short stories, his work has inspired and entertained generations of New Zealand writers and readers.

Join Maurice Gee in readings and conversation with chair Geoff Walker in this rare, not-to-be missed event, the final session of the 2012 Auckland Writers and Readers Festival.
