APPOINTMENT WITH THE EDITOR: JACQUELIN CANGRO

It’s your lucky day. US Editor Jacquelin Cangro has worked as an editor for Penguin Random House and other publishers for more than twenty years and loves nothing more than working with writers on their work. Eight lucky writers will each have half an hour of Cangro’s time in which she will provide thoughtful and constructive feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of a piece of writing, accompanied by written feedback to take away. If you are a writer (beginners especially welcome) with up to 5000 words of a first chapter or completed short story, including but not limited to mainstream, literary, romance or suspense fiction, YA writing, or memoir, then this is for you. Simply book an appointment slot and the Festival will put you in touch with Cangro by email. On receipt of your writing sample, she will send a reply email setting out what to expect at the consult, then assess the strengths and weaknesses of your piece before your half hour in-person consult at which she will provide both verbal and written feedback.

Appointment slot bookings close 26 April. Time slots are 9.15am, 10am, 10,45am, 11.30am, 12.15pm. 1.30pm, 2.15pm, 3pm.

Tickets $80.

Please note that consultancy appointments will take place in Pā - Rongorongo on the corner of Mayoral Drive and Wellesley Street and that it is a space open to visitors, so people may pop into the space whilst you are receiving your feedback.
