Event 114 - CANCELLED

The dazzling books of writer, artist and former Canadian Olympic swim team triallist Leanne Shapton defy easy description. The autobiographical Swimming Studies, which won a National Book Critics Circle Award, is a mash-up of text and images including a cataloguing of the togs she once inhabited; cult hit Important Artifacts and Personal Property from the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion, and Jewelry uses the device of an auction catalogue to chart a crumbling love affair; and Women in Clothes, a collaboration with Sheila Heti and Heidi Julavits, is a conversation between hundreds of women about clothing. Her latest offering, Guestbook: Ghost Stories, uses artefacts – ephemera, photos, architectural plans, and her own watercolours in 33 tales of guests, ghosts and other lingering presences. In conversation with Kiran Dass.
