Event 116 - CANCELLED

It was 20 festivals ago that the small but perfectly formed inaugural Auckland Writers Festival launched at the Hyatt Regency Hotel – with seven international guests, 70 local writers, and an audience of 5000. Last year the Festival drew a crowd of 83,000, across 211 events. This panel reflects on both the memorable and some of the better-forgotten moments, and offers intel on the best visiting party animals and the most dramatic on-stage tussles. Stephanie Johnson who co-founded the festival with Peter Wells, joins Jill Rawnsley, Festival Director for seven years, and founding trustee and longtime Festival bookseller Carole Beu for a lively review. Special guests may be invited to join in.
