Artemis Cooper is the author of major biographies on Patrick Leigh Fermor, Elizabeth Jane Howard and Elizabeth David. Her other titles include Cairo in the War 1939-45, and Paris After the Liberation, the latter co-written with the historian Antony Beevor.
