Jeanette Winterson is an award-winning adult and children’s writer whose major works include Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit (1985), The Passion (1987), The PowerBook (2000), The Stone Gods (2007) and the memoir Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal (2011). In 2015 she wrote The Gap of Time, her cover-version of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, the first in the Random House series of fictionalisations of Shakespeare. She writes regularly for the media and is Professor of New Writing at The University of Manchester.
