Dr Marama Muru-Lanning (Waikato, Ngāti Maniapoto) is the Acting Director of the James Henare Māori Research Centre at The University of Auckland where she also advises on elderly health. A specialist in water, environment and indigenous rights, in 2016 she published Tūpuna Awa: People and Politics of the Waikato River.
