Former Rangitoto College student Chloe Gong’s extraordinary writing journey has, by age twenty-one, taken her from Auckland Writers Festival Schools Programme attendance to the New York Times bestseller list. Her hit debut These Violent Delights is an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet set in 1920s Shanghai and was inspired by her wanting to see herself reflected in the books she reads. She discusses her writing journey and the book’s literary inspirations in this special livestream session.
