VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS FOR 2026 close April 24 2026.
Festival dates: Tuesday 12 - Sunday 17 May 2026
Every year we rely on a 140+ group of dedicated and energetic people who give their time to help us deliver the Festival. In return, our volunteers get an exciting behind-the-scenes experience of this major arts event and help to make an important contribution to Auckland’s cultural life. In addition, each volunteer also receives a name badge or lanyard giving access to all general and free events on the programme (as long as they are not sold out).
Our volunteers help us in many roles, which could involve; manning an information desk, acting as an usher in one of our venues, assisting with book signing or keeping an eye on our Patrons’ Lounge. We also need help backstage to support our production staff and make sure everything runs smoothly.
You will be required to read the 2026 Volunteer Application Guide and attend the volunteers' briefing session (an early May date to be confirmed) from 6pm to 9pm at the Aotea Centre, to meet the Festival team, tour the venue, and hear information you’ll need about the roles and responsibilities.
Please note: We do require a minimum of three shifts during the festival. Shifts range from 4 to 6 hours, and are between 8.30am and 10.30pm. There are limited shifts during the school programme days, so please check you have flexible availability on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday 15th to 17th May. Thank you.
