Event 90

The nature of time has long occupied literary imaginations and threaded its way into time-travelling fictions from Rip van Winkle and A Christmas Carol to The Time Machine and The Time Traveller’s Wife. Now come two novels with time at their heart from Auckland writers: Angelique Kasmara’s Isobar Precinct and 2022 Ockham NZ Book Awards-shortlisted Bryan Walpert’s Entanglement. Tossing their characters backwards and forwards across decades, they ask questions about what can be changed and what might we risk to do so. But is any of it even theoretically possible? To explore both the art and the science, the narratives and the quantum physics, they are joined on stage by Nanogirl Michelle Dickinson for a mind-bending hour.
