A TAMATEA/ DUSKY SOUND TOUR: PETA CAREY
Documentary maker and author Peta Carey writes in her introduction to her book, Tamatea Dusky, that Dusky Sound is “one of the most magnificent archipelagos on the planet, with a rich and fascinating Māori and European history... an extraordinary conservation story... widely regarded as one of the most ambitious ecological restoration projects in the world”. Wild and remote, those lucky enough to visit Tamatea/Dusky Sound usually travel by boat or helicopter. For the rest of us, a visual tour with Carey, touching on much of that largely unknown history, today’s extraordinary conservation work, and the fascinating and beautiful corners of this isolated wilderness, may be the closest we get. A not-to-be-missed special presentation.
