Event 72

A chance meeting as fellow climbers in 1994 led award-winning designer and artist Martin Hill and weaver and writer Philippa Jones to embark on an extraordinary artistic endeavour. For more than 25 years they have journeyed to remote locations around the world to create 12 ephemeral sculptures that draw a symbolic line around the earth and reflect humanity’s fractured relationship with nature. Capturing their journeys, the art (now returned to the earth) and their philosophy, their book Fine Line is a stunning story of a 25-year commitment to art and nature. They speak with Kennedy Warne.

The Fine Line project is also celebrated in a digital screening playing daily in Aotea Square, 26-28 August.
