Aroha Harris

Dr Aroha Harris (Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi) MNZM, is an Associate Professor in History at Waipapa Taumata Rau – the University of Auckland. A founding member of Te Pouhere Kōrero, Aroha has also served as President of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association and of the New Zealand Historical Association, and as a member of the Waitangi Tribunal. Her research interests span Māori communities and policy development, with a current focus on Māori values and initiatives in health and welfare. She is a co-author of the award-winning Tangata Whenua: An Illustrated History (BWB, 2014).
