Bea Gladding (Ngāti Porou, Ngāpuhi) is a multi-disciplinary artist and DJ working across live performance, poetry and sound. Writing under her DJ alias Mr Meaty Boy, she has self-released two zines, Manifesto and NZ DJ, which explore authorship, cultural labour, and creative identity. Bea’s poem If I Were to Answer the CNZ Questions Honestly gained significant attention online for its candid critique of arts funding structures and institutional language. Her writing is deeply informed by the process of making art across all forms and shaped through living as a performer and DJ. Bea recently performed poetry at Raranga o Ngā Kupu with 5ever Books in Pōneke and The Opening of Pōhutukawa at Te Whare Tapere in Ōtautahi, and continues to develop writing that sits between performance, critique of culture, and community practice.
