Carole Beu has owned and operated The Women's Bookshop in Ponsonby for 37 years. She was the Auckland Co-Ordinator of the Listener Women's Book Festival throughout the 1990s and was a founding Board member of the Auckland Writers Festival. She was awarded MNZM in 2019 for services to the literary industry and the LGBTQI+ community.
