David A. Robertson is a two-time Governor General’s Literary Award winner and the recipient of the TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award and the Writers’ Union of Canada Freedom to Read Award. He was selected as The Globe and Mail’s Children’s Storyteller of the Year in 2021 and named the paper’s Community-Builder of the Year in 2025. Robertson writes for both children and adults and is also a podcaster, public speaker, and social advocate. In recognition of his contributions to literature, education, and public life, he received an honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Manitoba in 2023 and an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Lethbridge in 2025. A member of Norway House Cree Nation, he lives in Winnipeg.
