Fiona Sussman

Fiona grew up in South Africa and moved to New Zealand in 1989. Her initial working years were spent as a family doctor, until in 2003, she hung up her stethoscope to pursue another long held dream, to write.

Published internationally, Fiona writes across genres, her work spanning historical, contemporary and crime fiction.

Her writing has won a number of awards, including the Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Crime Novel 2017, the Sunday Star Times Short Story Award 2018, and the NZ Booklovers Award for Best Adult Fiction 2021.

Her most recent crime novel, 'The Doctor’s Wife', was Auckland Council Libraries’ most borrowed book for 2023. Second in this series– 'Hooked Up' – is due out in October.
