Inangaro Vakaafi

Inangaro Vakaafi

Inangaro Vakaafi is a proud Niue and Kuki Airani creative whose work is grounded in language, culture, and storytelling. Originally from the village of Mutalau in Niue, she brings a deep love for Pacific identity into everything she creates. As a writer and creative, Inangaro uses words as a way to preserve heritage, uplift community voices, and explore the connections between memory, place, and belonging. Her award-winning book 'Hunt for Niutupu' was inspired by a desire to see Pacific stories not just included, but truly centred. Collaborating with Mila’s Books an all-Pasifika publishing team reflects her belief in the responsibility and privilege of telling stories grounded in cultural understanding and authenticity. Influenced by her island upbringing, Inangaro moves fluidly between Indigenous and Western worlds. Her work continues to celebrate Pacific knowledge systems while creating pathways for future generations to see themselves reflected in literature and the arts.
