Laura Borrowdale

Laura Borrowdale is a writer, reviewer and educator from Ōtautahi, Christchurch. She’s passionate about small presses: she is currently one quarter of ngā pukapuka pekapeka, a small chapbook press, and was the founding editor of Aotearotica, a New Zealand literary journal that found a global audience. Her most recent collection of short stories, Dead Ends, was released in 2025 with Tender Press. The collection explores the horror of the domestic, the monsters of the everyday and dystopias that feel increasingly more likely to come true. RNZ described the stories as ‘excellent’ and ‘deeply compelling’. Her first book, Sex, with animals, is available from Dead Bird Books and her podcast, Angry Ladies, can be found wherever you find your podcasts.
