Writer and broadcaster Noelle McCarthy’s debut book, the memoir Grand: Becoming my Mother’s Daughter has been shortlisted for the 2023 Ockham Book Awards. It will be published in Ireland and the UK in June. Noelle has recently been appointed as the International Institute of Modern Letters and Creative New Zealand Writer in Residence for 2023. She makes podcasts as Bird of Paradise Productions with her husband John Daniell. They live in the Wairarapa with their daughter.
