Roseanne Watt

Roseanne Watt is a writer, filmmaker and musician from Shetland, writing in the languages of Shaetlan, Scots and English. Her dual-language debut collection, Moder Dy, was published by Polygon in May 2019, after receiving the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award for Scottish poets under 30. Moder Dy subsequently received both an Eric Gregory and Somerset Maugham Award in 2020, and was named joint-winner of the Highland Book Prize 2019.

Roseanne holds a PhD from the University of Stirling, in the disciplines of creative writing and filmmaking. In 2019, she held a solo-exhibition of filmpoetry, Stoal, as part of Shetland Art’s ‘Beyond Bonhoga’ programme. She has been named one of the Saltire Society’s ‘40 Under 40’ in the literature category. In 2024, Roseanne was the Scottish recipient of the inaugural RSL Jerwood Poetry Award.
