Tame Malcolm

Tame Malcolm is a respected environmental and biosecurity leader from Aotearoa New Zealand of Te Arawa and Ngāti Ruanui descent, with over a decade of experience in biodiversity and biosecurity management. He grew up immersed in te reo and te ao Māori and channels that cultural foundation into his work protecting the natural environment. Tame has held roles with agencies including the Department of Conservation, regional councils, OSPRI (TB Free), and the Māori Biosecurity Network. He has served on the Bay of Plenty Conservation Board and advisory boards for national science and biodiversity challenges, and has been recognized for his leadership in advancing Māori involvement in environmental protection. Tame also contributes to research and conversations on integrating mātauranga Māori with modern pest management strategies. His work focuses on strengthening indigenous knowledge and partnerships to enhance environmental outcomes across New Zealand.
