A NOTABLE LIFE: MARGARET SPARROW (2022)

In 2021, nine acclaimed New Zealand writers were asked to provide an essay on a notable New Zealander of their choice for the book 'Nine Lives'. Bestselling author Catherine Robertson chose Dame Margaret Sparrow and begins her compelling tribute by recounting her own experience of abortion under local anaesthetic at the age of 21. Robertson joins Sparrow, who is the author of 'Risking Their Lives' and two other books on the history of women’s rights and abortion in New Zealand, to discuss Sparrow’s remarkable life and career in the service of women.
