THE 2017 SCHOOLS PROGRAMME IS OUT AND BOOKINGS ARE NOW OPEN
Auckland Writers Festival is delighted to deliver the Schools Programme in May with the generous support of the Freemasons Foundation. Through this programme we hope to inspire young writers and readers and celebrate the love of story with them.
This year we are delighted to announce appearances by Donovan Bixley, Alex Casey, Lauren Child, Anna Coddington, Glenn Colquhoun, Ivan Coyote, Stella Duffy, Mandy Hager, Frances Hardinge, Mohamed Hassan, David Hill, Renata Hopkins, Witi Ihimaera, Amie Kaufman, Sarah Laing, Hisham Matar, Paula Morris, Jennifer Niven, James Shapiro, Tim Tipene, Aaron Topp and Zak Waipara.
In 2017 we continue the development of the programme. New initiatives include:
- One full days programme for Year 5-6 students
- Increased transport subsidy funds to assist with schools travel costs
- An extension of the 2016 pilot programme, supported by donors Josephine & Ross Green, enabling three schools to attend at no cost. In addition, eight students from each sponsored school will embark on a creative writing mentoring programme delivered in partnership with The University of Auckland. (NB. Involvement in this pilot is by invitation.)
All the information you need about the timetable, ticket prices, booking and how to apply for financial support towards transport is available in the programme, which you can download here.
