Bryce Galloway is a lecturer at Whiti o Rehua School of Art, Massey University Wellington. He champions all things zine*, celebrating the medium’s all-comers ethos and the notion that everyone needs a creative outlet. Galloway is the author of the long-running zine Incredibly Hot Sex with Hideous People which first hit Wellington streets in 2002. IHSWHP is usually comprised of personal essays, comics and doodly [sic] drawings. In 2012 Bryce Galloway and Heather Galbraith curated Zines aus Neuseeland for the Weltkulturen Museum, Frankfurt. The exhibition informed 2014’s small press at Wintec’s Ramp Gallery in Kirikiriroa Hamilton, extending the premise to include zines from Australia. small press was part of the inaugural Kirikiriroa Hamilton Zinefest. Galloway still helps run the event and is also a Wellington Zinefest committee member. Bryce Galloway has just completed the oral history Zines NZ (punk to present), Massey University Press. *Zines are short-run analogue magazines.
