The close to seven million copy-selling global sensation of a novel about a female scientist-turned-TV-cooking star kicking against the conventions of 1960s America has received countless accolades from the literary world and includes everyone from Nigella Lawson to Stephen King as its famous fans.

Making it all the more extraordinary is the fact it is Garmus’ very first book, published when the author was 64, following another successful career as a copywriter and creative director working in the fields of technology, medicine and education.
