HOW TO BE A BAD MUSLIM: MOHAMED HASSAN (2022)

UK-based award-winning journalist and poet Mohamed Hassan hails from Auckland and Cairo. He is the author of the debut essay collection 'How to be a Bad Muslim', a thoughtful exploration of questions of identity and growing up Muslim in a post-9/11 world. His debut poetry collection National Anthem was a finalist in the 2021 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards and he was NZ’s 2015 National Slam Champion and the winner of a New York Festival Radio Award for his podcast 'Public Enemy'. Back from London to launch his book, in this session Mohamed discusses home, belonging and the power of writing the personal in poetry and prose.
