Gabriella Makerita Hinetu Brayne is of Samoan (Falefa), Māori (Ngāti Maniapoto) and Pākehā whakapapa, and was proudly raised in Waitākere. She currently works as a lawyer, having completed her LLM in Indigenous Legal Studies at the University of Arizona. She has also contributed to community-driven research on prison abolition and constitutional transformation.
