Event 77

Our Land in Colour

In this richly illustrated event, award-winning historian Jock Phillips and Aotearoa New Zealand’s premier colourist Brendan Graham join RNZ’s Emile Donovan to discuss their Ockham NZ Book Awards longlisted Our Land in Colour. With 200 breathtaking photographs of Aotearoa New Zealand life from 1860 to 1960, meticulously colourised for the first time by Graham, and accompanied by expert historical commentary from Phillips, it is a stunning and revealing window back in time.

From how people adapted to the environment and the way they fed, clothed, housed and transported themselves across an at times inhospitable land, to how they banded together with a spirit that would become famously Kiwi, join Philips and Graham as they guide you through remarkable images that remind us of who we were and from where we’ve come.
