Jacinda Ardern

Jacinda Ardern

Jacinda Ardern (born 26 July 1980) is a New Zealand politician known globally for her empathetic leadership style and progressive politics. She served as the 40th Prime Minister of New Zealand from 2017 to 2023, becoming one of the world’s youngest female leaders when she took office at age 37. Ardern led the Labour Party and focused on issues such as poverty reduction, climate action, and social wellbeing. Her decisive and compassionate response to the 2019 Christchurch Mosque attacks earned widespread international praise, as did her science-driven leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ardern became a symbol of modern, inclusive governance. In January 2023, she announced her resignation, stating she no longer felt she had “enough in the tank” to continue leading. After leaving office, Ardern took on international roles, including work on combating online extremism and promoting climate solutions, continuing her influence beyond national politics.
