Dr Ross Calman (Ngāti Toa, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāi Tahu) is a writer, historian and te reo Māori translator based in Ōtautahi Christchurch. In 2023 Ross received an Honorary Doctor of Arts from the University of Canterbury in recognition of his contribution in the fields of Māori history, publishing and translation. The Te Rauparaha: Kei Wareware podcast which he co-wrote and hosted received a Gold award at the 2024 New York Festivals Radio Awards. His published works include He Pukapuka Tātaku i ngā Mahi a Te Rauparaha Nui / A Record of the Life of the Great Te Rauparaha (AUP, 2020) and He Atua, He Tangata: The World of Māori Mythology (Oratia, 2021). His latest book, The Treaty of Waitangi / Te Tiriti o Waitangi, was published by Oratia in January.
