Daniel Hahn

Daniel Hahn is an award-winning writer, editor and translator with over a hundred books to his name. He is the author of a number of works of non-fiction (including Catching Fire: a translation diary) and the editor of books including The Oxford Companion to Children's Literature. His translations from Portuguese, Spanish and French include a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, as well as children's picture books and plays. Recent books include If This Be Magic: the unlikely art of Shakespeare in translation, and translations of fiction from Guatemala, Argentina, Peru and Mexico. He is currently translating an Angolan novel and co-editing The Penguin Book of Brazilian Short Stories (with Padma Viswanathan). He has been chair of the UK's Society of Authors and on the board of many organisations that work with literature, translation and free expression.
