Hēmi Kelly is a Māori language teacher, writer, and licensed translator from Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Tahu, and Ngāti Whaoa. His work focuses on contemporary Māori language expression, education, and revitalisation. Hēmi is the creator of the Everyday Māori social media platforms, including the Everyday Māori podcast, which supports learners to engage with te reo Māori in practical, everyday ways. He is the author of A Māori Word a Day, A Māori Phrase a Day, and his latest book, Everyday Māori: Ia Rā, Ia Rā (2025). As a translator, Hēmi has worked across literary, educational, and public-facing contexts, including The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and other major titles. He has taught te reo Māori at tertiary and iwi levels across Aotearoa and is committed to making the language accessible and relevant.
