Octavia Cade

Octavia Cade

Octavia Cade is a speculative and climate fiction writer from New Zealand. She has a PhD in science communication and likes using science fiction to explore environmental issues and science history. Her academic work, consisting of around thirty papers, also has this focus, with recent papers in Supernatural Studies, Interdisciplinary Literary Studies, and SFRA Review. Her latest books, both from Stelliform Press, are The Impossible Resurrection of Grief, which looks at emotional response to climate change and the potential restoration of extinct species, and the short story collection You Are My Sunshine. Octavia has won five Sir Julius Vogel awards and has been a visiting artist at Massey University, and in 2023 she was the Ursula Bethell writer in residence at Canterbury University. She’s currently writing a magical realism novel about the aftermath of the Rainbow Warrior bombing, supported by an Arts Grant from Creative New Zealand.
